Those parents seeking to secure a spot for their child in the 2014-2015 Kindergarten class should plan to attend one of the parent information meetings scheduled on Monday, March 4, 2014, at 9:30 am. and 6:30 pm at our Multi-Purpose Room. Information meetings will be held at different times of the day in order to accommodate varying schedules. Applications for admission and a Statement of Understanding will be available at the meetings or can be downloaded from this site.
Should there be more applicants than spots available in the class, a random-draw lottery will be conducted to select students for the 2014-2015 Chinese Kindergarten class. Parents of those students whose names are selected in the lottery will have approximately 1 week to officially accept placement in the Southeast Chinese Immersion Program by completing, signing and delivering to the Chinese office the Acceptance of Placement form which will be included in the notification letter.
*Sibling link – Kindergarten students applying for the SE Chinese class whose older siblings are already involved in the program will be given preference with respect to admission to the program.
*Wait List – A student whose name is not drawn within the set number of spots available in the Chinese classroom will be assigned a wait list number that corresponds to the order in which his name was drawn. Names of all qualified applicants will be drawn and assigned a number on lottery day. Should openings become available in grades k-2, students may be admitted once proficiency comparable to that of students already in the program has been demonstrated.
